Jimmy Dean, Age 81, passed away on June 13, 2010. A beloved country music legend and businessman, Jimmy Dean had an illustrious career spanning decades, with notable accomplishments across the music industry as well as the food industry. He was best known for his hit song "Big Bad John" as well as founding the Jimmy Dean Sausage Company. Born August 10, 1928 in Plainview, Texas, Jimmy Dean began his career as a singer, appearing on local radio in the 1940s before gaining national recognition with the success of "Big Bad John." He was a frequent guest on the top television variety programs of the time, and was a Grand Ole Opry member. As his career blossomed, Jimmy branched out into the food business in 1969. His eponymous sausage brand popularized the use of pork sausage in the United States and is still used widely today in a variety of dishes. He is survived by his two adopted sons, and will be deeply missed.
