It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jessica Walter, who died on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021 at the age of 80. Jessica Walter was a beloved actress, director, and producer best known for her roles in the sitcom Arrested Development and in the movie Play Misty for Me. She also starred in the television shows Amy Prentiss and Trapper John, M.D.In addition to her work on the small and silver screens, her voice could be heard in several animated television shows and movies, including The Simpsons, The Venture Bros., Dinosaurs, Toy Story 2, and The Boondocks. Walter was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 31, 1941. She attended the High School of Performing Arts, and made her Broadway debut in 1961 in Neil Simon's Barker. Her tremendous body of work spanned more than five decades, and earned her several Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, along with a Saturn Award and an Indie Series Award. Walter was a beloved friend and family member and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
