Jerry Stiller, beloved actor and comedian, passed away on May 11th, 2020 at 92 years of age. Born Gerald Isaac Stiller in 1927 to Jewish immigrants in Brooklyn, New York, Jerry had a long and illustrious career in show business. After studying at Syracuse University and the Actors’ Studio, Jerry furthered his career as a comedian, appearing in many stand-up gigs and even earning a Drama Desk Award for his performance in Neil Simon’s "The Ritz". In 1961, he married Anne Meara, with whom he wrote and performed several comedy bits, including the anti-establishment "Stiller and Meara" show for the Ed Sullivan Show. The couple had two children, Ben Stiller and Amy Stiller. Jerry had a long-standing role on Seinfeld, playing the role of George Costanza’s father, Frank. Other roles included a stint on King of Queens, as well as cameos on both Ben’s film, Zoolander, and Meg’s film, Wiener Dog Nationals. Jerry was a talented actor, comedian, and mentor to aspiring actors. He will be deeply missed.

Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it, a jealous, possessive love that grabs at what it can. But life leaps over oblivion lightly, losing only a thing or two of no importance, and gloom is just a passing shadow of a cloud. Yann Martel
