Jerry Heller, whose groundbreaking work for Hip-Hop group N.W.A. revolutionized the music industry and rap music worldwide, died on September 2, 2016 at the age of 75. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Jerry Heller was a widely-respected music manager and entrepreneur in the industry. He was a visionary who was week in and out to promote the careers of N.W.A. and other hip-hop artists. Under Jerry Heller's management, N.W.A. went on to become one of the most influential and commercially successful hip-hop acts in history. Their albums Straight Outta Compton (1988) and Efil4zaggin (1991), both managed by Jerry Heller, are hailed as two of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. In addition to N.W.A., Heller handled artists like Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube, Run–D.M.C., and Mantronix. During his career, Heller received numerous awards and was instrumental in launching rap and hip-hop into mainstream music. He will long be remembered as an innovator in his field and a leader in the music industry. Jerry Heller will be missed by the many people he touched during his life.
