Jenni Rivera, beloved singer and actress, passed away on December 9, 2012 at age 43. In a career that spanned two decades, Jenni was a mainstay in the regional Mexican music industry. She was awarded, eight Billboard Latin Music Awards, eight Lo Nuestro Awards, five Latin Grammy Awards, seven ASCAP Awards, an MTV TRL Award and countless others. Born in Long Beach, California in 1969 to Mexican parents, Jenni performed under the stage name "La Diva de la Banda". She released her first studio album in 1999, and went on to become a successful recording artist, actress, entrepreneur and reality television star. Jenni was particularly known for her powerful ballads of independence, heartache and redemption. Jenni was an advocate for empowering young Latinos to pursue success, and had done charity work with healthcare initiatives. She was loved by her fans and will be remembered for her courage, strength and her legacy of music.
