Jay Adams, a noted surfboard designer, artist, and skateboarder, passed away on August 15th, 2014 at the age of 53. Born in 1961 in Santa Monica, California, Adams attended Palisades High School, where he became widely known for his death-defying skateboarding stunts. His trademark style garnered him considerable notoriety, and he soon became a prominent figure in the surf and skateboarding scene. Adams went on to achieve legendary status as a surfboard artist, winning numerous awards throughout his career for his renowned fiberglass designs. His work was featured in some of the industry’s leading magazines, and was featured in a variety of educational materials and film documentaries. Adams’s style of surfing gained immense popularity in the 1980’s, and his influence is still felt in the skateboarding and surfing communities today. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
