James Lipton, TV Personality, Author, Actor, and Dean Emeritus of the famed School of Acting at the New School in NYC, died at age 93 on 2020-03-02. Following college graduation from Detroit's Wayne State University, Lipton started his long and successful career in the entertainment industry writing for television shows such as The Dick Van Dyke Show, and the Famous Storyhour anthology. Among his many successes, Lipton was the creator, host, and executive producer of the popular syndicated show Inside the Actor's Studio from 1994 to 2018. He wrote several books, many of them related to Inside the Actors Studio, and also appeared as a guest on several TV series. Lipton's uncompromising commitment to the performing arts and its practitioners will not be forgotten.
