He earned the nickname 'The Godfather of Soul' for his distinctive sound and recordings, which revolutionised rhythm and blues music. His music career began with the backing band, The Famous Flames, and spanned an incredible six decades. His recording of 'Please, Please, Please' hit number five on the R&B charts and symbolised the beginning of his long and successful career. Brown's other notable hits include 'I Got You (I Feel Good)', 'Papa's Got a Brand New Bag' and 'Living in America'.
