Jackie Coogan was born on 1914-10-26 in Los Angeles, California, the son of a vaudeville hoofer and a mother who later became a successful actress. He made his movie debut in "The Kid" (1921), in which he famously played opposite Charlie Chaplin. As a youngster, Coogan was one of the richest and most famous people in the world, but his parents squandered his fortune and by the time he reached his majority he had nothing to show for it. He continued to work in movies and television, however, and was able to rebuild his fortune. He died on 1984-03-01, at the age of 69.
