Legendary American actor Jack Warden passed away at the age of 85 on July 19, 2006. Born in Newark, New Jersey on September 18th, 1920, Warden’s long and illustrious career spanned six decades, beginning in 1949 with his Broadway debut in Kiss Me, Kate. Warden continued to work on stage and screen, winning a Tony Award in 1957 for his work in Comings and Goings and an Emmy nomination for his supporting role in CBS drama Crazy Like a Fox in 1985. His notable film credits include Plaza Suite, Being There, Heaven Can Wait, 12 Angry Men and Shampoo. Warden’s most memorable role came in the late-’70s Woody Allen classic Annie Hall for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Warden can also be remembered for his roles in countless television programs. He appeared in such series as The Perfect2 Fits, Baywatch, Cheers, MacGyver, the Twilight Zone and Amazing Stories. Warden was a cultural icon remembered for his lasting contribution to the world of entertainment. He was married to wife Beverly Warden since 1951 and is survived by his children, daughter Nina and son, actor John.
