Jack Lemmon, beloved actor, died on June 27, 2001, at the age of 76. Born in 1925 to Mildred and John Lemmon, Jack was a talented individual from an early age. Starting as an amateur pianist, Jack's career eventually led him to Hollywood. After serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II, he began studying acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. He earned Homecoming King and became a performer at the popular "Students Prayers and Praise" club while attending Harvard College. Jack Lemmon had an illustrious acting career, appearing in an array of films such as "Some Like It Hot", "The Apartment", "Days of Wine and Roses", and "The Odd Couple". He was critically acclaimed for his performances, winning Academy Awards and Golden Globe awards throughout his career. His spirit of perseverance and sense of humor endeared him to many. He was the acknowledged master of both light and dark comedic roles, and combined his wit and charm to play characters that audiences worldwide have grown to love. He is survived by his wife Felicia, and his children, Chris and Courtney Lemmon. A legend in the industry, Lemmon will be remembered fondly for generations to come.
