J. Bruce Ismay (1862-1937) passed away peacefully at home on October 17th, 1937. He was 74 years old. Mr. Ismay was born in Crosby, England in 1862. He was the managing director of the White Star Line which he joined in 1891. In 1912 he was involved in the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic, however, he survived the tragedy along with other crew members and passengers. Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Ismay had several accomplishments. He was Director of the International Mercantile Marine Company and Vice Chairman of the Cunard Steamship Company. He also served as President of the Liverpool Steamship Owners' Association. Mr. Ismay was gained the OBE for his services in the transportation industry in 1921. Mr. Ismay is survived by his wife, Florence, and their children. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
