Today it is with great sadness that we inform the world of the passing of Irma Grese, aged 22. On December 13, 1945, Irma Grese, a former Nazi concentration camp guard, died. Born in Wrechen, Germany, Irma Grese had a troubled childhood. She worked as a farmhand and soon joined the Nazi party in 1939. Grese rose through the ranks of the SS, becoming a supervisor of the female guards at Ravensbrueck and Auschwitz concentrations camps. Throughout her time at these camps Irma Grese was responsible for torture, violent abuse, and the deaths of countless people forced into the camps. In 1945 after the Allied forces liberated these camps she was arrested and tried for war crimes at the Belsen trial. On November 13, Irma Grese was found guilty and sentenced to death. She was executed shortly thereafter, at the age of 22, on December 13, 1945. Irma Grese will be deeply missed and remembered for her role in one of the darkest times in history, and the heinous crimes she committed against those at the Nazi concentration camps. Her legary will last in infamy.

The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Mark Twain
