It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman on 1982-08-29 at the age of 67. Born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1915, Ingrid's rise to fame began locally in 1932 with her debut on the Swedish stage in Eugene O'Neill's 20th-century classic, The Great God Brown. After her 1933 performance in the feature film Räkna de lyckliga stunderna blott, Bergman moved to Hollywood, where she quickly rose to prominence as one of the greatest names in film history. Ingrid starred in dozens of iconic films across genres, from Casablanca, Gaslight, and Anastasia, to Notorious, Autumn Sonata, and For Whom the Bell Tolls. Her scenes and performances have been remembered for decades and continue to be beloved by audiences around the world. In 1940, Ingrid married dentist Petter Lindstrom. Ingrid had three children with Lindstrom before leaving him in 1949 for Italian director Roberto Rossellini, with whom she had two daughters. In 1955, Ingrid returned to Europe and continued to act until her retirement in 1982. During her time in Europe, Ingrid received numerous accolades, most notably the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1975 in the film Murder on the Orient Express and the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1982 in the film Anastasia. She is remembered by all who knew her as a talented and passionate actor, wife, and mother. Ingrid Bergman's legacy will remain with us forever.
