It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Howard Keel, an iconic actor in the entertainment industry. Keel passed away peacefully on November 7, 2004, at the age of 85. Born Harold Clifford Keel on April 13, 1919, in Gillespie, Illinois, Keel was son of a coal miner and attended the Professional Children's School in New York City. He sang in a boy's choir and was a talented baritone in high school. Keel received wide acclaim for his acting, singing, and dancing skills, particularly during the "Golden Age" of Hollywood musicals. He was best known for his performances in films such as Annie Get Your Gun (1950) with Betty Hutton, Kiss Me Kate (1953) with Kathryn Grayson and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) with Jane Powell. In addition, Keel also made a name for himself in television. He starred in CBS's 'Dallas' from 1982 to 1991 as Clayton Farlow, as well as in 'The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw' (1991) with Kenny Rogers. A loving and devoted husband and father, Keel married twice and had seven children. He leaves behind a lifetime of love and many memories that will be cherished by his friends and family. May he rest in eternal peace.
