Henry Gibson, known for his roles on hit television shows Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In and The Bob Newhart Show, died on September 14, 2009 at the age of 73. Born in Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1935, Gibson studied drama at Catholic University of America before embarking on a five-decade-long acting career that saw him take on a variety of roles on the big and small screen. Gibson is most remembered for his frequent appearances on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In from 1968 until 1973. There, he was seen in an array of characters, from the acerbic Poet Laureate to the Invention Exchange's Dr. Genius. Later in 1973, Gibson joined The Bob Newhart Show as the lovable, somewhat absent-minded Reverend Jeremy Nueller. In addition to these roles, he also appeared in films such as The Blues Brothers, Two Weeks Notice, and A Mighty Wind. Gibson appeared also made a number of guest appearances on sitcoms, including Roseanne, Malcolm in the Middle, M*A*S*H, and 227, among many others. Gibson is survived by his wife Lois and four children.
