Former Nevada Senator Harry Reid died December 28, 2021 at the age of 82 after years of service to the people of Nevada and America. Harry Reid was born in Searchlight, Nevada in December of 1939. He graduated from Utah State University and attended law school at George Washington University. Reid served as a member of the Nevada Assembly and as chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission before being elected to the United States House of Representatives. He was elected to the Senate in 1986, where he served as the Senate Majority Leader from 2007 to 2015. As a prominent Democratic leader, Reid was instrumental in crafting the Affordable Care Act, leading Senate funding debates, and passing major legislation related to energy, immigration, education, and Native American affairs. He dedicated his career in public service to creating positive change in the lives of Nevada and American families. Reid is survived by his four children and many grandchildren. He will be remembered for his dedication to public service and his impact on the people of Nevada and America.
