The music world mourns the passing of the influential and esteemed Texas songwriter Guy Clark, who died on May 17th, 2016 at the age of 74. Best known for his songwriting, his work evolved through a unique blend of folk, rock, country and Americana. Clark's songs, which he began writing in the early 1960s, spoke to the hearts of listeners both personal and universal. He wrote songs for many other country music singers throughout the years, including Ricky Skaggs and Steve Wariner. Born in Monahans, Texas on November 6th, 1941, Clark was raised in nearby Rockport, TX. He was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album, as producer of poet and musician, Steve Earle's album, "Train a Comin'," and won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Clark was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004 where he was a member of the songwriting panel and a mentor to a new generation of songwriters. Guy Clark's memory will live on in his songs, and through the thousands of fans who sang along with him through the years.
