Griselda Blanco (January 15, 1944 - September 3, 2012) has passed away aged 68. Griselda was born in Cartagena, Colombia, and became a notorious and feared drug smuggler and "cocaine godmother". She was involved in numerous criminal activities; including a war of attrition with her former mentor Pablo Escobar in the mid 1980s. Griselda will be remembered as a powerful and influential figure in the drug world. Her success spread far beyond the Colombian cartels, to the heart of the cocaine trade in the US. Griselda was convicted in the early 1990s and served more than 20 years in prison. After her release she moved to Miami, Florida, and lived out her remaining years in relative anonymity.
