In painful sorrow, the royal family of Russia remembers the passing of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna on Thursday, July 17th, 1918 at the age of 17. Born in Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo, Russian Empire on June 18th, 1901 to Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra of Russia, Anastasia was the fourth of five children and the youngest daughter of the imperial couple. Her childhood was marked by tragedy with the onset of the Russian Revolution in 1917, leading to the execution of her beloved parents and siblings in Yekaterinburg in 1918. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings and extended family, Anastasia will be remembered for her loyalty, devotion and vivacious spirit. Her resilience and remarkable strength extended beyond her young years and will never be forgotten. Her spirit lives on in the many hearts of those she has touched. Rest in peace, Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna.
