Gia Carangi, an iconic fashion model of the late 70s and early 80s, passed away on November 18, 1986 at the age of 26. Carangi rose to fame as one of the most recognizable and in-demand models of her era, appearing regularly in European and American magazines like Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Moreover, her edgy, androgynous style became a major influence on designers and other models who followed in her footsteps. Her passion for fashion was only matched by her love for the arts, which were apparent in her photography, paintings, sketches, and other works. Though she developed a successful career in her twenties, and achieved great fame, that success was overshadowed by her personal struggles. Carangi was an avid drug user throughout her lifetime and was tragically diagnosed with AIDS in the early 1980s. Carangi is deeply missed by her family, friends, and fans.
Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there’s a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see. Helen Keller (Remember that Helen Keller was blind)
