George S. Patton, an iconic figure in the history of the United States of America, passed away on December 21, 1945. He was born on November 11, 1885 in San Gabriel, California. Patton is widely regarded as one of the greatest generals in American history. He was educated at the Virginia Military Institute and the U.S. Cavalry and Armor School. He fought with courage and honor in World War I, and led the U.S. Seventh Army in the invasion of Italy and France during World War II, eventually reaching the Rhine. His leadership and bravery earned him numerous awards, including the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Medal, and the Silver Star. He also served as U.S. Military Governor of Bavaria. As the Commander of the Third Army, Patton drove more than two-thirds of the enemy forces from France in the closing weeks of the War in Europe, and emerged as the most decorated soldier in the U.S. Army. Patton was an unforgettable figure in the annals of American history and his memory will remain for generations.
