It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Raft, at the age of 79. George Raft was born in 1895 in New York City. He started his entertainment career as a dancer in the 1920s and worked his way to the top, appearing in more than 70 films, and becoming a well-known actor of Hollywood's golden age. He was regarded a master of deadpan comedy, often playing the roles of mobsters or gangsters. He co-starred in classics such as “Scarface” (1932), “You Can't Cheat an Honest Man” (1939), and “The Glass Key” (1942) – all of which earned him numerous accolades and nominations throughout his extensive career. He eventually retired from show business in 1972. George Raft was a true pioneer, and his contribution to the entertainment industry will be remembered for generations to come. He is survived by his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
