Genesis P-Orridge (née Neil Andrew Megson), born on 22 February 1950, passed away at the age of 69 on 14 March 2020. P-Orridge, a British artist, musician, writer, and poet, was the founder of the industrial music groups Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. P-Orridge’s work in the music industry combined conceptual art, performance art, and avant-garde experimentation, and was formative for industrial, experimental, and noise genres. P-Orridge was the author and editor of many works, produced both independently and in major publishers. Among his most prominent works include the multimedia work Thee Psychick Bible. In 2003, P-Orridge was awarded the associated honor of Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE). In October 2017, P-Orridge was diagnosed with acute myelomonocytic leukemia. Despite various treatments, P-Orridge passed away five weeks after being admitted to the hospital. P-Orridge will long be remembered for their distinction as an artist and for their contributions to the experimental music industry.
