Gene Siskel (1946 – 1999) passed away on February 20th, 1999 at 53 years of age. Gene Siskel was an American film critic and journalist, well known for his appearances on Siskel & Ebert At the Movies, which he co-hosted with Roger Ebert from 1975 to 1999. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Yale University. Siskel was the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize for Criticism. He was also well known for his appearances in a large host of other productions, including guest spots on NPR programs and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Over his lifetime, Gene Siskel made a name for himself as one of the most influential and prolific film critics in American history. He will be remembered for his technical and unbiased analysis of films, which continues to leave an impact on the lives of film enthusiasts around the world.
