GG Allin, renowned punk performer and songwriter, died on June 28th, 1993, at 36 years old. Born Jesus Christ Allin on August 29, 1956, in Lancaster, New Hampshire, GG developed a reputation as a musician and entertainer who pushed the boundaries of performance art. Known for his intense live shows and radical behavior, Allin was also a prolific and respected songwriter and poet. In addition to the three feature films bearing his name – Hated, All in the Family, and Hated in the Nation – GG released several albums and several dozen singles. One such single, “Bite it You Scum,” charted in Australia and the UK. His fans lauded GG for his creative use of shock tactics to challenge traditional concepts of performance and social order. His legacy endures as an individual who walked his own path and did not care whether anyone was following. GG Allin will be remembered fondly and his influence continues to shape modern punk culture.
