It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Franz Kafka, born on July 3rd, 1883, who suddenly passed away on the 3rd of July, 1924, at the age of 41. Franz was a German-speaking Bohemian novelist and short-story writer, widely regarded as one of the major figures of 20th-century literature. His works, such as "The Metamorphosis", "The Trial", and "The Castle" have described with harrowing accuracy the anxieties and alienation many felt during the modern period. Franz's innovative fictions and stories explored the struggle between the individual and bureaucracy, guilt, physical and psychological confinement, and the irrational. His influence has been broad; he has been cited as an influence by writers and philosophers such as Sartre, Camus and Breton. Franz Kafka will be remembered as an extraordinary writer whose talent and original thinking has changed and enriched people's minds for generations to come. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
