Frank Frazetta, the world-renowned illustrator and comic artist, died on May 10, 2010, at the age of 82. He was renowned for his cover artwork for comics and books, his pen and ink drawings, and his paintings of iconic figures like Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan. During his lifetime, Frazetta worked with notable authors such as Edgar Rice Burroughs, Michael Moorcock, Keith Laumer and Mark Twain. His artwork appeared in numerous popular publications, including National Lampoon, EC Comics and Playboy. He also designed iconic covers for novels written by Stephen King, Piers Anthony and Roger Zelazny. Frazetta won several awards throughout his lifetime, including a nomination for the Jack Kirby Award for Best Artist in 1986 and the San Diego Comic Con's Icon Award in 2003. In 2006, he was inducted into the comic industry's Will Eisner Hall of Fame. Frazetta is survived by his four children, Frank, Bill, Holly and Ernie, as well as other family members. He will be remembered for his innovative artwork and his love of fantasy art.
