Francis Bacon, renowned British artist and member of the Royal Academy, passed away on April 28th, 1992 at the age of 82. Bacon's life was deeply intertwined with both his career as an artist and his personal life. Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1909, Bacon spent his childhood in the same city before attending a school in London. He later moved on to studying at the Bedford School and later the Royal Academy of a Arts, but eventually dropped out and pursued his career as an artist. He is known for his often haunting and emotive portrayals in a variety of mediums, such as painting, photography and printmaking. Among his many accolades, Bacon won the Grand Prize at the São Paulo Art Biennial in 1975 and the Kiko Lifetime Achievement Award at the Venice Biennale in 2001.
