Florence Henderson, television's beloved matriarch who assumed the role of Carol Brady on "The Brady Bunch," has passed away at the age of 82. Born in Dale, Indiana in 1934, Florence Henderson was raised in rural Kentucky. After high school she studied dance and acting at the American Academy Of Dramatic Arts and soon began her career on Broadway in the 1950s. Her success eventually opened the door to numerous television roles in the 1960s including the role of Carol Brady on "The Brady Bunch." Florence Henderson continued to star in projects in the decades following, appearing in multiple Broadway shows, television projects, and hosting cooking shows. Her success and warmth won her numerous awards and nominations including multiple Emmy Award nominations. Florence Henderson will be remembered as one of television's most iconic characters of the 70s, paving the way for young female stars of the time. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
