Eve Arden, a legendary American actress and comedian died peacefully on November 12, 1990 at the age of 82. Eve Arden was born on April 30, 1908 in California, and early in her career achieved success as a stage actress. During her career she was best known for her Academy Award nominated role in Mildred Pierce and her role as the wise yet sarcastic teacher in Our Miss Brooks, for which she was awarded four Emmy nominations. In addition to her prolific acting credits, Arden was also involved in radio shows, narrating the Fibber McGee and Molly Show and leading the Three Sisters cast, as well as appearing in classic films such as Stage Door, Overboard, and Grease. Eve Arden furthered her influence in the entertainment industry by becoming one of the first women to produce and direct a television show, and she was also a leader in the Hollywood Women's Club, often lending support and advocacy towards her fellow actresses. Eve Arden was an inspirational actress and leader in the entertainment industry whose influence lives on. She will be deeply missed by the countless people whose lives she touched.
