Enzo Ferrari, a legendary race car driver and founder of the Ferrari racing team, died Monday, August 14, 1988 at the age of 90. Born February 18, 1898, in Modena, Italy, Enzo was a passionate mechanic who began racing in 1919, eventually competing in the 1924 French Grand Prix, and founding the Scuderia Ferrari racing team in 1929. He had a successful career that included winning motor races, setting speed records, and breaking design boundaries. The world of sports cars was changed forever when Enzo created the Ferrari sport car in 1947, and swiftly became the face of the Ferrari brand. As a passionate businessman, Enzo went on to create race cars for other manufacturers and business relationships that remain strong in the motor racing world today. Enzo Ferrari has left behind an unforgettable legacy that includes numerous racing championships and the Ferrari car, which remains synonymous with luxury and performance. He is survived by his beloved sons Alfredo and Dino.
