His Imperial Majesty Emperor Taishō of Japan, born as Prince Yoshihito on 31 August 1879, passed away on 25 December 1926 at the age of 47. Taishō ascended to the Chrysanthemum Throne on 30 July 1912 upon his father's death. During his brief reign, he made many significant contributions to the nation and people of Japan, including developing the Meiji Constitution, ratification of the Public Order Act, and issuing the first state Shinto. While Emperor Taishō's reign was short, he was noted for his progressive thinking on social reform and humanistic governance. After his death in 1926, his son Crown Prince Hirohito would ascend the throne as Emperor Shōwa. Emperor Taishō's legacy of upholding a modifier within the imperial system in order to ensure political stability and continuation of the Japanese nation will not be forgotten. He will be long remembered as a compassionate and courageous ruler of Japan.
