Emilio Aguinaldo (1869-1964) died on February 6, 1964 at the age of 94. He was a Filipino revolutionary leader and the first President of the Philippines. Aguinaldo is remembered for leading the first successful revolt against Spanish occupation in 1898, leading to the establishment of the First Philippine Republic. He also fought against the United States forces during the Philippine-American War. While Aguinaldo's presidency ended in 1901, he was active in politics until his death. He is remembered for his part in the Philippine Revolution and his commitment to Filipino independence.
