Edward Morgan Forster, one of the pre-eminent English authors of his day, died peacefully on June 7th, 1970 at the age of 91. Forster was born in London on 1st January 1882. He was educated at Tonbridge School and King's College, Cambridge, before beginning to establish himself as a writer in the early twentieth century. He wrote many classics such as A Room with a View (1908) and Howard's End (1910), both of which were adapted into successful films, as well as A Passage to India (1924). He was made a Companion of Honour in 1953. His works, which often touched on gender, racial, and class issues, made humane and moving and observations on a changing Britain, and they continue to inspire and to be studied and celebrated to this day. Edward Morgan Forster's legacy will live on, and his loss will be felt by many.
