Dylan Thomas, the renowned Welsh poet, died on Wednesday, November 9th, 1953 at the age of 39. Thomas was born in the Welsh town of Swansea in October 1914. He attended Swansea Grammar School before moving to London in 1934, where he began to write professionally. Thomas was highly acclaimed for his works, which include the renowned "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" and his Under Milk Wood radio play. He has been credited with helping to popularize the use of clever wordplay and metaphors, which in turn sparked an interest in modern-style poetry. His work has been featured numerous times in fiction and non-fiction films, productions, and books. Thomas passed away in New York City, where he had been receiving treatment for an unrelated illness. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Caitlin stop Macnamara Thomas, and their two children. Thomas's life and works were recognized and applauded in his lifetime, and will forever remain an important contribution to the history of literature and culture.
