Doris Day, the beloved singer and actress, passed away on May 13, 2019 after living a long life of 97 years. Day was born on April 3, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Alma and William Kappelhoff. She pursued her passion for singing and dancing at an early age and quickly rose to fame in the 1940s and 1950s. Her 53-year career spanned a wide range of media, including radio, film, television, and recordings. She is perhaps best known for her roles in "The Pajama Game", "Pillow Talk" and Alfred Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much". Day also released 29 studio albums, went on four world tours, wrote four books, and made a number of television guest appearances. She accumulated numerous awards over the course of her career, including three Golden Globe Awards and the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement. Day is survived by her two adopted sons and leaves behind a loving and devoted legion of fans. She will be remembered for her tremendous talent and her contributions to American entertainment.
