It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald O'Connor on September 27th, 2003, at 78 years of age. Donald O'Connor was a renowned American actor, singer and dancer who was known worldwide for his inventive dance moves and his comedic timing. He was most notably known for his role in the movie Singin' in the Rain, as well as appearing in numerous other films such as Thenella and There's No Business Like Show Business. Donald was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 28th, 1925 and started dancing at the age of two. He became a regular on Colgate Comedy Hour in the early 1950's and even appeared in films as a child. Donald was nominated for several awards, including the Academy Award for best actor in a supporting role for his role in the film Singin' in the Rain. His amazing dance, singing and comedic talent led him to be nominated for a total of 8 Emmys throughout his career. Donald was also a dedicated philanthropist, giving back to organizations such as The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Donald will always be remembered as a brilliant and multifaceted performer, leaving behind an impressive legacy of film and television appearances. He will be dearly missed.
