It is with sadness that the family of Dina Wadia, renowned philanthropist and business leader, shared the news of her passing on November 2, 2017, at the age of 98. Born in 1919, Dina studied in India and London, before marrying Neville Wadia, a successful businessman from India, and moving to Bombay. During the Second World War, when her husband was interned as a British citizen in India, Dina stood up for her husband's rights, going as a petitioner to the highest levels of government. When India and Pakistan were divided in 1947, Dina chose to remain in India, and was subsequently declared stateless. But she refused to be deterred, and despite these restrictions she achieved success in business. Dina was a leading force in the continued growth of the Wadia group, which remains a leading corporate conglomerate in India. Dina was committed to public service, working to develop and expand commerce, industry, and education in India. As a lifelong philanthropist, Dina was involved in the Shiram Farm School (in Mumbai), The Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and later in a trust founded in her parents’ names. Dina was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her warm-hearted spirit and strength of will live on in the hearts of many.

Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there’s a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see. Helen Keller (Remember that Helen Keller was blind)
