On January 25, 2015, Demis Roussos passed away at the age of 68. Roussos was a noted Greek singer, songwriter, and performer who had a prolific career across the world. His distinctive singing voice and warm folk-pop sound made him a global music star. He spent over four decades in the industry and sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. He was born on June 15, 1946 in Alexandria, Egypt and began his musical journey when he joined Vangelis’ band, “Apolipsis” in 1969. He then joined the group “Aphrodite’s Child” and released multiple top-selling albums such as “It's Five O'Clock” and “666”. In 1973, Roussos embarked on a solo career that had him topping international music charts with such classic hits as “Forever and Ever” and “My Only Fascination”. Roussos eventually moved to Paris, France and had the opportunity to work with several famous producers and record labels, most notably WEA. He even performed the theme song for the popular French film “Les Uns et Les Autres”. He also went on to collaborate with other esteemed artists such as Dalida, Michel Sardou, and Barbara. He released over twenty albums during his career, and in 2008 he was inducted into the Peace and Friendship Stadium Hall of Fame. He will be remembered by music lovers everywhere for his vast artistic contributions to the industry.
