David Tomlinson, beloved actor, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2000 at the age of 83. David was born in 1916 to Harry and May Tomlinson, and grew up in Hertfordshire, England. He trained as an actor at the Italia Conti Academy in London. Beginning in 1941, David had a successful career in both theater and film. He is best known for his 1954 film debut in “The Belles and the Blackman” and his roles in “The Submarine Patrol”, “Odd Man Out” and most notably, “Mary Poppins”; where he famously played the father, Mr. Banks. His other films include “The Love Bug” (1968), “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” (1971), and “The Pathfinders” (1972). David is survived by his wife, Nadia Benz; his four children, Paul, Lyndon, Kate, and Ben; his sister, Jean; and five grandchildren, Jodie, Lia, Serina, Gracie, and Annabelle. He will be fondly remembered by his family, colleagues, and fans.
