David Koresh, 33, died on April 19, 1993. Born to Bonnie Sue Clark and Vernon Wayne Howell, he had a troubled upbringing, and he began following the Bible at an early age. After joining the Branch Davidians, David became increasingly devoted to his religious beliefs, leading him to become a leader in the organization. David Koresh is remembered for his influence on the Branch Davidians and his involvement in the deadly siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Under his leadership, the group was involved in a 51-day standoff with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and United States military beginning on February 28, 1993. The siege ended on April 19, 1993. David Koresh died that day, although the cause of his death remains unknown. David Koresh was a unique and controversial figure, but one that will not be easily forgotten. He is remembered fondly by Branch Davidians and will remain part of the collective memory for years to come.

Death comes to all, but great achievements build a monument which shall endure until the sun grows cold. Ralph Waldo Emerson
