David Bruce Cassidy, a celebrated actor, singer, and songwriter, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017, at the age of 67. David was born on April 12, 1950 in New York City, son of the late singers Jack Cassidy and Shirley Jones. His career flourished in the 70's and early 80's with his role as Keith Partridge in the television show "The Partridge Family." During his time on the show, David and The Partridge Family won the 1971 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Program and released many albums, including the album "Shopping Bag" which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart and "Dreams Are Nuthin' More than Wishes" which went Gold and peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot100 Singles Chart and No. 4 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks Chart. David was a pioneering pop singer and his albums including "Cherish," "Rock Me Baby," and "Romance" continued his success initially fueled by "The Partridge Family." He went on to amass numerous Gold and Platinum records, honors, and awards throughout the rest of his career including the 2010 Inspiration Award for his singing, theatre, and humanitarian work presented by the Deutsches Filmschüler Forum, the only award made to a non-German that year. Known fondly for providing joy and inspiration to millions, David was selfless in his efforts to help those in need. He spent much of his time in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis by participating in fund raisers and by forming a chain of theatres allowing persons with disabilities access to performances in all fifty states and around the world. David will be remembered for his generosity, creative genius, and devoted love of music and family, including his three children, Ryan, Patrick, and Katie, and his three half-brothers Shaun, Ryan, and Jack. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
