Daniel von Bargen (1950–2015) died on March 1, 2015 at the age of 64. Best known for his roles as Commandant Edwin Spangler on Seinfeld and Chief Grady on Malcolm in the Middle, he was a veteran of the film and television industry. In addition to his acting work, von Bargen was also a renowned theater actor, with performances worldwide including "As You Like It", "Pericles" and the title role in Titus Andronicus. He starred in the film adaptation of John Grisham's The Rainmaker (1997), and made guest appearances on popular shows including ER, Brimstone, Homicide, and Law & Order. Von Bargen's death was a loss to the acting community. He leaves behind a legacy of performances that will live on long after his passing.
