Dan White, age 39, died on October 21, 1985. Dan was born in San Francisco, California and was a lifelong resident of the city. Dan was a family man who loved spending time with his wife and three children and was a devoted member of his church. A decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, Dan served proudly as a sergeant in the US Army and was a recipient of the Bronze Star medal. He was instrumental in the founding of the Vietnam Veterans of America. Dan was an active member of his community, involved with local charities, his church, and social causes. He worked for San Francisco City Hall in the eighties, where he was a dedicated Director of the Department of Public Works. Dan will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and community. He was known for his courage, dedication, and hard work, and will be remembered fondly as an inspiration to all who knew him.
