She was the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur and 33 gold records. Born in Cairo, Egypt, on January 17, 1933, she started her singing career at the young age of 18 before moving to Paris, France. She became a songwriting sensation and released her first album in 1956. She quickly rose to fame with her angelic voice as she followed with numerous successful albums and concerts. Dalida is best known for her hit songs "Paroles Paroles," "Gigi l'amoroso," "Il venait d'avoir 18 ans," "Laissez-moi danser," and "Bambino." Her reach went beyond the music scene as she appeared in several films. The music legend became an iconic figure and earned a place in French culture. Her amazing career included selling over 170 million records and singles, appearing on stage and in TV and radio shows, and performing as an international artist. Dalida left an indelible mark in the music industry and will forever be remembered for her talent and compassion for others. She was 54 years old at the time of her passing.
