On August 28, 2009, Adam Michael Goldstein, known professionally as DJ AM, passed away at the age of 36. Born in Philadelphia in 1973, Goldstein began his early career as a DJ in New York City, before eventually joining rock band Crazy Town. After working with punk rock group Blink-182, DJ AM began his remarkable solo career as a DJ. He gained recognition for his talents, and went on to spin at events for celebrities, political figures, and major corporations. In 2007, DJ AM was named one of the best open-format DJs by New York magazine. Throughout his career, DJ AM earned multiple awards and accolades including being the first person to win in the scratch DJ category at the DMC World DJ Championship. He also proved adept in the worlds of film and television, appearing as himself in multiple films and on television shows such as Miami Ink, the MTV show “Gone Too Far” and the hit reality television series “The Simple Life”. DJ AM will be remembered for his passion for entertaining and for his lasting influence on the DJ world and wider music industry. He left behind an incredible legacy that will live on and inspire generations to come.
