On February 18th, 2015, at age 78, D. Ramanaidu, an industry pioneer of film production in India, passed away. Ramanaidu was born in 1938 in Sankkili, Andhra Pradesh. He had a long career in set production and had a portfolio of over 150 films, including classics such as 'Prem Nagar', 'Murari', 'Shirdi Sai', and 'Kushi'. His contribution to Indian cinema was most notably recognized in 2001 when he received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Ramanaidu was also known for his business success, having established the highly successful studio destination, Ramanaidu Studios, in 1988, with premiere facilities for directors, producers, and actors. Ramanaidu's legacy is twofold: expanding the reach of Indian cinema via successful film production, as well as building the platform for filmmakers and stars of the industry. He will be remembered for his passion for media, storytelling, and entertainment, and will be fondly remembered by those who worked with him.
