Cy Young, one of the most renowned pitchers in baseball, passed away on November 4, 1955, at the age of 88. He was born on March 30, 1867 in Gilmore, Ohio. During his baseball career, Cy enjoyed an incredible 22-year long career with five different teams. He is best known for his record-breaking 511 wins, including 94 shutouts, the most in baseball history. He was also the first pitcher ever to record the now common feat of throwing a perfect game. Throughout his career, Cy won nine Baseball Pitchers’ Triple Crowns, was a two-time World Series Champion, and was even elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame in 1937. His legacy on the sport of baseball is immeasurable, assured by the leadership role he maintained from the mound, and his tempered and dedicated approach to the game. Cy Young will be remembered as a giant of the game of baseball, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy that will be remembered forever.
