It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Conway Twitty on June 5th, 1993 at the age of 59. Harold Lloyd Jenkins, professionally known as Conway Twitty, was an American singer and songwriter. He achieved success in rock and roll, R&B, and country music; garnering 55 Top 10 hits and 60 number ones on the Billboard Country Singles chart. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999. He held a record 45 number ones on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart until George Strait broke it in 2006, and he held the record for most number one albums (50) on that chart as well.
